Growing so fast
This beautiful boy is growing so fast! Three months old, paying attention to his toys, grabbing and catching them.

Cheetos for breakfast
This morning, Claire woke up at 6:45 a.m. Tess was still sleeping. I brought Claire downstairs and put on some cartoons. I went back upstairs to feed and change Declan. When I came downstairs, Claire had a bag of Cheetos from the pantry and looked like this:
I guess we shouldn't be surprised, since Claire's first taste of real food was when she found a box of Cheez-Its at 8 months:

A lawyer wouldn't know
Sorry for the details, but I had to share, because I was laughing so hard:
I was in the bathroom with Tess and her #2 was not totally normal. She looked perplexed and said, "that is not normal. I will ask dad why my poop looks like that, because I am not sick. He's a doctor, so he would know." I was thinking about how I was going to explain that maybe something she ate caused her issue, when she looked at me and very certainly said, "A lawyer wouldn't know. I'll talk to dad." Ahhh...funny kid and it got me off the hook.

Claire Bear Attack
Over and over again, I have told people that when Declan hears Claire getting closer or sees her coming towards him, he perks up and his eyes get big. Well, I finally caught the sequence in photos:
And this is why:

Titles
Tess and I were just playing with Declan and she said:
Boys can be brothers or sons.
Girls can be lifes (wives, I asked. Yes, she confirmed)
And boys can be kings, but girls can be princesses like you mom.
And like you, Tess.

Don't worry about it
Chris and I both had a "don't worry about it" experience with Tess this week.
Today, Tess came up from the basement and asked me for a towel. Suspicious, I asked "why?" Her answer, "no reason ... don't worry about it." She kept telling me over and over, as I inquired, not to worry that "it was nothing" and she "just needed a towel." As I followed her to the basement, all 3 feet of her tried to box me out! All it was was a small mess she made with her water bottle.
When I told Chris the funny story, he told me that he had a similar experience over the weekend. Tess had been in the bathroom for awhile with the water running and he asked her what was going on in there, her response: "don't worry about it, dad." He eventually went in and found Tess' arms covered with marker and a very messy bathroom resulting from the attempted cover-up.
Also, today, Tess for some reason was saying "poop, poop, poop." Of course, Claire chimed in and kept repeating. I told the girls that "poop" was a yucky word and not to say it for no reason. Tess, a little sad, said okay we'll stop. Claire, looking straight at me, said "pee pee, pee pee, pee pee." Oh, this sassy trouble-maker with her sister there to help her cover it up are going to keep Chris and I on our toes.

Thank you, baby
Thank you, Declan (11 weeks), for sleeping through the night! The past two nights, Declan has slept 6.5 and 7.5 hours, making the big jump from 4 hours. That is a huge difference and I can feel it in my body. I am not saying I slept that whole time. Tess was up two nights ago with bad dreams and Claire was up last night throwing up, but Declan sleeping helped. I hope he can keep it up.

It's showtime!
Friday and Saturday, I had two opportunities to watch Tess' ballet recital. I was glad I got to see it twice, because the three minute performance went too fast and was so enjoyable. Words cannot describe how cute it was, how great the girls did, and how their personalities showed through, so here are some pictures and the video of the dress rehearsal. We should be getting the dvd of the Saturday performance in a week or so and I'll be sure to post it as it is pretty different from the Friday performance.
There are more pictures from the shows up on our picasa page.

Tess definitely was nervous and serious before the shows:
But was fantastic once on stage:
Tess' biggest supporter, Claire, watched very closely, and is so proud of "her Tessie." We all are.

A Busy Tuesday
Today was a very busy day transitioning from school year to summer. Tess had her end of the year school show and then started swim lessons two hours later. Luckily for us, Chris was off this week (making up for working 15 of the past 16 days) and he got to enjoy all the fun with us.
