A New Year

This blog was born of a resolution on NYE 2012, when I decided to record the little stories and pictures about the kids that happen in our everyday life that you want to always remember, but fear you’ll soon forget. I am so glad that I have done this because without the discipline of posting regularly, I doubt I’d take as many photos or preserve as many memories as I do. So, thank you to the grandparents, great-grandparents and aunts and uncles who regularly ask me where the recent post is to make me capture these times, because each year does go by so fast.

What happened in this blink of an eye year of 2012? Tess has gone a full year without a pacifier, marking there is no baby left in her.  I cannot believe she will be four soon.  She is so independent now (going to drop-off summer day camp at the lake and staying for after school programs) and thrives in the big sister role, really watching over Declan and Claire. Claire found her voice this year - a different voice than Tess, a softer one - you have to listen more to her, but when you do, she doesn't stop and she is so funny.  You can see her mind working through her words, which is fun and amazing.  Declan joined our family, which is too good for words.  The little baby who slept so much at first while his sisters ran, screamed and played right beside him is now getting in on the action and wants to be a part of it all.  Chris is completing his last year of residency (though, there will be a fellowship) and is an extraordinary dada. He can bring all three kids to soccer practice without batting an eye and greets them with cuddles and hours of playtime on the floor when he gets home from work, despite what most would consider exhaustion. And I had a golden year, adventures with the kids, good things at work, amazing times with Chris on our own and as parents.  Let’s hope 2013 is just as filled with love, good times and blessings.

My 2013 new years resolutions?

Hug more.
Yell less.
Stress less.
Love them more.
I can do that.

Happy New Year to our dear family and friends.
